Donegal Fergus, Minnesota Twins Minor League Hitting Coordinator
In 2020 Donegal Fergus begins his first season with the Twins, and his first in a coaching role with a major league club. He spent the last 19 seasons as a college coach, including an associated head coach role in 2019 at UC Santa Barbara. In 2019, the UCSB Gauchos led the Big West Conference with a .296 batting average and .878 OPS, while setting school records with 45 wins against DI opponents, 13 All-Conference performers, and five selections in the first eight rounds of the First-Year Player Draft. Fergus spent the 2014-18 seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Washington. He previously served as head coach at Lower Columbia College (Longview, WA), assistant at Seattle University (2011-12), head coach at Tacoma (WA) Community College (2006-10), and assistant at Lower Columbia (2001-05). Fergus played collegiately at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR, where he graduated in 2000.

Ryan Smith, Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Twins Double-A Affiliate) Hitting Coach
Ryan Smith begins his second season in the Twins organization in 2020. As the hitting coach for Single-A Cedar Rapids in 2019 the Kernels finished second in the Midwest League with 109 home runs. He spent three seasons (2016-18) as assistant coach and strength coach at the College of Central Florida where he helped develop one of the most potent offenses in school history. The 2018 Patriots ranked seventh nationally with a program-record 94 home runs. Smith played two seasons at Central Florida, before earning 2016 Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team honors at Valdosta (GA) State University.
