In this episode, Donegal Fergus, Matt Borgschulte, and Bryce Berg discuss hitting mechanics for players, coaches, parents, administrators, and other personnel. This episode is geared toward the high school age group.

Donegal Fergus, Minnesota Twins Minor League Hitting Coordinator
In 2020 Donegal Fergus begins his first season with the Twins, and his first in a coaching role with a major league club. He spent the last 19 seasons as a college coach, including an associated head coach role in 2019 at UC Santa Barbara. In 2019, the UCSB Gauchos led the Big West Conference with a .296 batting average and .878 OPS, while setting school records with 45 wins against DI opponents, 13 All-Conference performers, and five selections in the first eight rounds of the First-Year Player Draft. Fergus spent the 2014-18 seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Washington. He previously served as head coach at Lower Columbia College (Longview, WA), assistant at Seattle University (2011-12), head coach at Tacoma (WA) Community College (2006-10), and assistant at Lower Columbia (2001-05). Fergus played collegiately at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR, where he graduated in 2000.



Matt Borgschulte, Rochester Red Wings (Twins Triple-A Affiliate) Hitting Coach
Matt Borgschulte enters his third season as a coach in the Twins organization and first at Rochester. He served as the hitting coach for Single-A Ft. Myers in 2019 and for the GCL Twins in 2018. He spent 2017 coaching for Single-A Palm Beach in the St. Louis Cardinals organization and coached at Southwest Missouri State University from 2015-16. He spent 2014 as a volunteer at his alma mater, Drury University in Springfield, MO, where he introduced in-depth video analysis for hitting and helped the Panthers to a Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship. He played collegiately at Western Kentucky and Drury, where he graduated with a degree in Sport Management. As a senior at Drury in 2013, became the first All-America selection in the programâ??s history.



Bryce Berg, Cedar Rapids Kernels (Twins Single-A Affiliate) Hitting Coach
Bryce Berg enters his first season in the Twins organization in 2020, he is also making his professional coaching debut. He spent the past four years as an assistant coach at Concordia University, NE, working with the teamâ??s hitters and catchers. During his time there, the Bulldogs won a pair of Great Plains Athletic Conference titles, while also advancing to the NAIA tournament in both of those seasons. He earned 2015 second team all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference accolades as a senior at Augustana.
